In his latest “My Take” commentary for Fox Nation, Stuart Varney said Democrats are “learning the downside of A.O.C.” after Amazon announced it would not move to Long Island City, N.Y. as planned.
“Anything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
“After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens” – Amazon spokeswoman Jodi Seth 54.8K 11:42 AM – Feb 14, 2019 Twitter Ads info and privacy 26K people are talking about this
The freshman Democrat – along with other lawmakers – had strongly criticized the planned opening of Amazon’s second headquarters in New York.
Varney said the “Big Apple” is turning into “a big socialist mess.”
He ripped Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who represents the adjacent neighborhood of Astoria, Queens, for claiming Amazon was “exploiting workers.”
Varney said Amazon was offering jobs that paid around $150,000 per year, which he stated was far from an exploitation.
“Democrats are now learning the downside of A.O.C. (sic),” he said, adding that the lawmaker and her similar-minded colleagues “hate capitalism [and] wealth.”
